Day 1: Arrival and transfer to Tarangire National Park.
On the first day of the safari, your safari begins with private transfers and an immediate immersion into the wildlife-rich landscape of Tarangire National Park.
Upon your arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) you will be met by your private expert safari guide from African Vacation Safaris and driven directly to Tarangire National Park (approximately 2 hours).
After a gourmet lunch at your exclusive tented camp or boutique lodge (often with private plunge pools and butler service), the afternoon is offered to a game drive. Tarangire National Park is famous for its massive herds of elephants and then dramatic scenery dominated by the ancient baobab trees. Your guide will focus on the Tarangire river, a magnet for wildlife. The evening concludes with a fine dining experience back at the lodge.
Day 2: Lake Manyara and Ngorongoro Highlands.
On the second day of the safari, the day combined the diverse ecology of Lake Manyara with the scenic drive up to the cooler Ngorongoro Highlands.
After a leisurely breakfast, you will enjoy a morning game drive in Lake Manyara National Park. The park is noted for its dramatic Rift Valley Setting, its dense groundwater forest, and its population of the unique tree-climbing lions. You will also seek out the large flocks of flamingos (seasonal) and the vast troops of baboons.
After the game drive, you will drive up to the Great Valley escarpment to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area (NCA). You will check into a luxurious lodge located on Ngorongoro Crater rim, offering breathtaking panoramic views of the caldera below, for an overnight stay, dinner and relaxation.
Day 3: Ngorongoro Crater Descent.
Wake early in the morning on the third day of the safari, and enjoy breakfast. After an early, custom-prepared breakfast, you will descend 600 meters (2000 feet) into the Ngorongoro Crater through a private access route (if staying at an exclusive lodge).
This natural caldera acts as a wildlife haven, guaranteeing sightings of the Big five, including the elusive Black Rhinoceros, which are rarely seen elsewhere. You will spend a full day exploring the plains and alkaline lakes, accompanied by a gourmet picnic lunch served in a secluded spot inside the crater. Later, you will be transferred to your accommodation for dinner, relaxation and overnight stay.
Day 4: The final morning Game Drive and Departure.
The final morning offers a choice of activities before your departure.
Activity and Transfer: Wake up early in the morning and enjoy breakfast. You may opt for a guided bush walk on the crater rim (a special activity only available in the highlands) or simply relax and take in the magnificent views. Afterward, you will be driven back to Arusha and then be transferred to Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) for your scheduled international departure, concluding your short, high-impact luxury safari.
