Day 1: Arusha to Tarangire National Park.
On the first day of the safari, your safari guide from African Vacation Safaris will pick you up from your hotel in Arusha or from Kilimanjaro International Airport; he will welcome you and brief you about the safari. After the briefing you will start driving to Tarangire National Park, which is about 2.5 hours away.
The park is famous for its giant baobab trees and massive herds of elephants. You will spend the day on game drives, exploring the Tarangire river and the surrounding plains. After the experience, you will be transferred to the lodge for dinner, relaxation, and an overnight stay.
Day 2: Ngorongoro Crater Descent.
On the second day of the safari, wake up early in the morning and enjoy breakfast. After breakfast, this is the peak day of the safari, focusing on the highly concentrated wildlife of Ngorongoro Crater.
The Crater Adventure: You will have a very early start, driving to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area (NCA) gate and then descending 600 meters (2000 feet) into Ngorongoro Crater. This natural caldera is a self-contained haven for nearly 25,000 large animals, making sightings almost guaranteed.
The day is spent exploring the crater floor, focusing on the Big five, especially the endangered Black Rhinoceros. You will enjoy your picnic lunch enjoyed inside the crater. In the late afternoon, you will ascend the crater and then drive to a basic lodge near the town of Karatu for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 3: Karatu and Departure.
On the last day of the safari, wake up early in the morning and enjoy breakfast. After breakfast, you will check out of your lodge, meet your safari guide, and drive back toward Arusha while passing through the local villages and farmland, providing a glimpse of Tanzanian rural life. Depending on your flight schedule, you will be dropped off either at your hotel in Arusha or directly at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) for your international departure.
